In addition to the animal-specific adoption fees outlined below, if you reside in Seattle, you must purchase a for dogs, cats, pigs and goats at the time of adoption.Foster parents are a critical part of our program at Seattle Animal Shelter. Fostering saves dogs from unnecessary hardship and the stress of the shelter environment. In 2011, more than 75 dogs were adopted from foster care. Without our dedicated foster parents, we would not be able to offer these dogs a second chance at finding their forever family.We would like to invite you to attend one of our weekend adoption event hosted by Sierra Fish & Pets at Renton Village. Although we as a store sold puppies in the past, we fully understand that there are too many wonderful dogs in animal shelters today that need to find forever homes. It is their welfare, and future, that we want to focus on solely. We made the decision several years ago to stop the sale of puppies in our pet store and we are putting our full efforts into the support of dog rescue and adoption. By working alongside animal rescue organization and pet adoption agencies in the greater Seattle Metro we have helped adopt out hundreds of dogs into pet loving families. On weekends we open up our store for dog rescue organizations to bring in adoptable dogs, the fosters that open their homes to these adoptable dogs, and the volunteers that help with each rescue organization.
