Is your dog still going on the floor

With younger or very elderly dogs who are likely to have more frequent accidents, the blacklight gadget for detecting those dried on stains could be your best friend in keeping your carpets smelling fresh and looking clean - dog urine odor removal could be much more of a breeze than you thought!

And there is no mistaking the smell of dog urine on a rug - ugh. The key to getting rid of the smell - and the stain - is to take care of it as soon as possible.

Can anyone recommend the most effective way to deal with dog urine in carpeting? Certainly to begin the cleaning process asap is best, but not always possible - particularly if you are a landlord. I have tried numerous methods involving blotting, soaking, scrubbing, drying, brushing, etc. and all kinds of special carpet shampoos, enzyme neutralizers, absorbent sprinkles, room deodorizers, buckets of cold water, spray bottles of warm water, rug scrubbers both large and small with various attachments. Despite my best efforts, I cannot conquer the stains and the smell. They never go away - the dogs smell their "favorite spot" and the cycle begins again. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your time and consideration.

It also could have been that somehow our dog was periodically urinating in the same spots without us noticing.

With the steam cleaner I used Bissell 2X Pet Stain & Odor Formula.

5. Carpet – This is where it’s toughest to get out a pet urine smell or just that doggy odor because it seeps into not only the fibers but the padding as well. Begin by dabbing the area of the stain with a mild, non-toxic dish detergent. After dabbing, put a solution of one part vinegar and two parts water is a spray bottle and spray lightly. Repeat and, if your knees begin to get bruised from all that dabbing, sprinkle the rug with baking soda, vacuum and go get yourself an ice cream.
