Sofia, I’m starting to have a commenting-crush on you. Well said again! It’s really so simple, isn’t it? Designated on-leash areas require that all dogs must be on-leash at all time, no excuses, because it’s the law. Designated off-leash areas are acceptable places for off-leash dogs to run free. Win-win for everyone.
How To Stop Your Dog From Pulling On Leash:
Why it happens: Dogs naturally want to pull against pressure rather than giving into it. Your dog learns that when he pulls, he is more likely to get where he wants to go — and to get there faster. Dogs who pull have little connection with the human on the other end of the leash; they’re only interested in what’s in front of them.
"Hi Scott,The Running-Dog Bike Tow Leash is fantastic!
When holding a dog tight and close, instead of teaching the dog that this is the position they’re supposed to walk in, it learns that a leash should always be tight when it walks. Picture a toy car that you pull back on and when it is released it takes off. Dogs taught leash-walking this way have the same problem. The minute they are given some slack, they yank to the end of the leash and start pulling. That’s because they’ve learned to seek leash tension, not how to walk nicely.
