Benefits of a raw dog food diet include fewer, and more compact stools; muscle development in the jaw, neck, and shoulders (resulting from the chewing required by the meat and bone diet); better digestion due to slower, labored chewing; and an extended lifespan - thanks to an adherence to a natural, unprocessed, diet.
K9 Natural Freeze Dried Raw Dog Food | Review | Rating | Recalls
Mike’s analysis of K9 Natural Freeze Dried Raw: “As a group, the brand features an average protein content of 35% and a mean fat level of 42%.”
I feed my dog primarily home-purchased raw where I include a fat level of about 20%.
Other commercial raw freeze-dried dog foods seem to be 40+% protein and less than 30% fat.
Why is the fat % higher than the protein % in your freeze-dried formulas?

Hi Shameless, simply lamb can be higher in fat than most foods, add real whole bone, with the marrow (high fat content) intact and un cooked and you raise this level even higher, back to guess what, yes you got it natural levels. Plus I do not add fat or remove it, we buy the whole lamb take its head off its feet, drain the blood, pour this back, remove the spine, and the pelvis and use the rest less the lower intestine. so the figures are natures figures. Buy a whole lamb do what we do and you will get the same result the kidneys have fat surrounding them, the stomach has a lattice of fat around it, which has huge benefits. If another dog food company makes thier food like us they will get the same levels. They probably wont it is too expensive. So they get trimmed meat and offal etc and then cook it or Hpp is or de nature it or sterlise it all of which reduce fat levels. Nature realises that carnivores use fat for energy, so people think we add it? Lamb trim which is the fatty cuts of meat cost more than lamb meat, as fat is a large commodity in food. Fat, sugar and salt are the key drivers to make you eat food. I can assure you the human food companies know this. So they use it on humans to entice them to eat the food they make. There is enough literature out there to confirm this. So the questions should be is why dont the other comapnies match my levels? Perhaps they dont use the same ingredients namely buy the whole prey and use that. You get what you pay for. As for the figures I place on the bags you are right I have to use Science to do that, not through choice I can assure you. I can sleep at night, I know excatly what is in the food I produce, I dont need science or tests to prove the food K9 produces is as close to what they would eat given the chance. It is not perfect. Something warm covered in fur and running past the dogs nose is. That can only be provided by nature not me. Nature in my view is undisputable. Therefore I am not about to mess with it. I am certainly not that good.
I would welcome anyone to tour our factory, you would see what goes in to K9. Check out on facebook the factory pictures if you can stomach the blood being poured into the mix.
I have nothing to hide, so question the other companies as to why they dont get the same levels as those found in nature? Just one more point not all fat is equal either, EFAs are in abundance in Blood, real uncooked meat, and fat. EFAs are only found in raw un cooked un irradiated/sterilised food. The important point is E stands for essential. you know the rest, and they are in full supply in K9. Another reason to question others who can never acheive these levels.
